Novel Study Done - Mission Accomplished


Our day began with Powtoon presentations. There are two more presentations that need to take place tomorrow.

Students then worked on their summative task for our novel study. Once this was completed students worked on their Haida art. A few students completed this and worked on their Canadian Identity mind map from the perspective of the aboriginal people group they researched about. We will continue this work tomorrow. Whose land are we on?

Grade 6s had math, French, and music class today.

The Crawford Lake trip form is due back by tomorrow.

Please do NOT order hot lunches on January 18th & 23rd as we are out on trips these days.

Remember that tomorrow is Spirit Day. Students should come to school wearing green, red, and white. There is also a bake sale tomorrow.

Christmas Concert


Our day began with a class discussion of Chapters 23, 24, 25 and the Epilogue of Tuck Everlasting. Students have begun working on the final task for this novel study – the book summary and discovering the connections between the book and our inquiry unit. This work will be completed in class only as students will be evaluated on their responses. Devices will be needed to complete a research component to the novel study assignment.

We had a Christmas concert rehearsal in the morning and our performance in the afternoon. For this evening’s performance students are to be dropped off at the classroom at 6 pm. Parents who require shuttling to the dome will proceed to the gym for the shuttles. Students will be bused to the dome for the concert that begins at 7 pm. Students are to be picked up from the gymnasium after the concert.

Students who completed all their novel responses worked on their Haida art.

We had enough time for a few more students to present their Powtoons. Students who did not present will need to be ready to present tomorrow. Devices are needed for this. Students who have presented are asked to share their Powtoon with me.

Grade 6s had some math class today. They worked on adding fractions.

Ski/snowboard form and waivers are past due.

The Crawford Lake trip form is due back by Thursday, December 20th.

Dress Rehearsal



Our day began with a class discussion of Chapters 20, 21, & 22 of Tuck Everlasting. Students have been assigned the following reading: Chapters 23, 24, 25 and the Epilogue. They need to complete discussion pages 59 - 68 in the study guide. Most of this work was completed in class. Any incomplete work needs to be completed as homework for tomorrow’s class.

Students who completed all their novel study reading and responses worked on their Haida art.

We had enough time for only three students to present their Powtoons. Students who did not present will need to be ready to present tomorrow. Devices are needed for this. Students who have presented are asked to share their Powtoon with me.

We had two sessions of Christmas concert rehearsal today at the dome. We will have a final rehearsal tomorrow morning before the afternoon performance at 12: 30 pm. The evening performance is at 7 pm. Students should be dropped off at the classroom at 6 pm. They can be picked up from the gymnasium after the concert.

Math test & Powtoons


Our day began with a class discussion of Chapters 17, 18, & 19 of Tuck Everlasting. Students have been assigned the following reading: Chapters 20, 21, & 22. They need to complete discussion pages 52 - 58 in the study guide. Some of this work was completed in class. Any incomplete work needs to be completed as homework for Monday’s class.

We used our inquiry time for the math unit test to allow all students to have enough time to complete this test. 

We had enough time for only five students to present their Powtoons. Students who did not present will need to be ready to present on Monday. Devices are needed for this. Students who have presented are asked to share their Powtoon with me.

We had one session of Christmas concert rehearsal today.

Grade 6s had French and gym class today.

Today is the last day that students need to be in uniform.

Goodbye, Ms. Katherine


Our day began with a class discussion of Chapters 15 & 16 of Tuck Everlasting. Students have been assigned the following reading: Chapters 17, 18, & 19. They need to complete discussion pages 47 - 51 in the study guide. Some of this work was completed in class. Any incomplete work needs to be completed as homework for tomorrow’s class.

Next we worked on our explorers’ inquiry unit. Today students continued working on their Powtoon that shows First Peoples and their interaction with the environment. They used first recess to work on this, and most chose to have a working lunch and continued working on it. These projects are due tomorrow. Students may send me their links or connect their devices to the TV tomorrow so projects can be viewed by the class.  

We had one session of Christmas concert rehearsal today.

Grade 6s had French and math class today. In math students continued work on the unit review. For homework, they should study for the math test. The math test is to be written tomorrow, Friday, December 14th.

We said goodbye to Ms. Katherine today. We have enjoyed having her in our class. Students have become very fond of her. She brought in some treats for us to enjoy together. We in turn surprised her with our own treat.

Powtoon Start


Our day began with a class discussion of Chapters 13 & 14 of Tuck Everlasting. Students have been assigned the following reading: Chapters 15 & 16. They need to complete discussion pages 42 - 46 in the study guide. Some of this work was completed in class. Any incomplete work needs to be completed as homework for tomorrow’s class.

Next we worked on our explorers’ inquiry unit. Today students began working on their Powtoon that shows First Peoples and their interaction with the environment. This work was interrupted as we were called down for a Christmas concert rehearsal. Some students asked to stay in during recess to work on their Powtoon. Students may work on this at home. The entire Powtoon needs to be completed by end of day tomorrow.

Grade 6s had math class today. In math students took up the unit review. For homework, they should study for the math test. The math test has been moved to Friday, December 14th.
